An early version of the game included a boss named "Mari-Oh", whose face resembled Mario's, as seen in S - The Sega Magazine issue four. For the final version, Mari-Oh was renamed "Kabuto" and underwent a face change. Though he lost these similarities, Kabuto still shoots fireballs and shrinks after taking enough damage.
