Enemy stats
This section was inspired by the Nintendo Power Official Player's Guide, which only lists enemy HP, and even those numbers aren't all correct. So we pulled all the enemy stats straight from the game data for our guide.
As noted in the M&L:PIT Japanese to English special, the U.S. version was released first. When M&L:PIT hit Japan one month later, most of the enemies had stat changes. For the European release, the enemy data was just copied over from the Japanese game. Below are the dates for these three releases.
- USA: November 28, 2005
- Japan: December 29, 2005
- Europe: February 10, 2006
Notes:
- HP = Heart Points; Pow = Power; Def = Defense; Spd = Speed; Exp = Experience awarded; Coins = Coins awarded.
- These are the values stored in the game data. Some values might not apply (for example, Pow for an enemy that does not attack, or redundant Exp/Coin values for boss phases), but we left them in so you can see all the changes.
- Bosses are listed in order of appearance.
- Double-click anywhere in the table to highlight the differences.

Footnotes:
Thwack Totem: Damage taken from a "first strike" (stomping on him to launch a battle) does not deduct from his total HP.
Baby Bowser: In the very first battle of the game, Baby Bowser has 20 HP, but you automatically win after five attacks. If you could totally deplete his HP in less than five turns, the game would freeze.
Swiggler: You are also awarded Exp and Coins from every Dr. Shroob you defeated during the battle.
Mrs. Thwomp: Even though you can only defeat her when she's small, the game awards you the Coin value from her big form, which is why you get 0 coins in the U.S. version. This might have been an oversight that was corrected for the Japanese release by moving the 150 Coins from her small form to her big form.
Bowser + Baby Bowser: The Bowser duo's Exp and Coin values are interesting to see, because when you win the battle, the game only shows you the total Exp and Coins.
Support Shroobs: You are also awarded Exp and Coins from Support Shroobs smashed by Shroob-omb.
Shroob-omb: Shroob-omb's Def value means nothing; it looks like he's programmed to take 1 damage from any attack. If you were to actually hit Shroob-omb enough to take him out, the Support Shroobs would stop attacking. After you defeat two Support Shroobs, Shroob-omb would appear out of nowhere and go into his rolling animation like nothing ever happened. When Commander Shroob calls the group in again, Shroob-omb would be back. If you were to kill Shroob-omb more than once, you would only get credit for defeating him once (this is the only way to get 1 Coin from him).
Princess Shroob: Her crown does not attack.
